The Klu Klux Klan created that fear by hanging African Americans and showing their bodies as examples of what could happen to the rest of the black community if they tried to fight back. The Klan would even ride through African community's at night on horses and set a cross on fire in the front yard of anyone suspected of betraying the KKK's ideals. DOMINATION AND RELATION
The Klu Klux Klan believed that they were the dominate race and like Hitler and the Nazis they wanted to create the perfect race. The Klan believed that Jesus only died and shed blood for the "Aryan" race which they believed gave them dominance over all others. Before the KKK was established in 1866 there was a character in the 1830s created to make fun of the African American race. This character a symbol to the white people in America of what they believed African Americans looked and acted like. Jim crow a white man dressed in rags with shoe polisher on his body was put on stage to entertain the white community with his tales of the African American life. This Jim crow character was eventually turned into the Jim crow laws which were made to prevent African Americans from having rights to do anything after they were freed. This gave the KKK and even bigger dominance over the African American community. |
