In the 1930s before the Holocaust in Germany Homosexuals lives were just as bad as they were when the Holocaust happened.
DISCRIMINATION
In Berlin, Germany Homosexual males were considered weak and a disturbance to the Germans " perfect race". To be homosexual to a Nazi was thought to be an "unnatural" act in nature was, because of this Homosexuals were not allowed to fight for Germany in the war.
Homosexuality was made illegal because of paragraph 175 of the criminal code.
Paragraph 175: A male who commits a sex offense with another male or allows himself to be used by another male for a sex offense shall be punished with imprisonment.
Though this law had been on the books for years, the Nazis edited and used it as grounds to make many arrests of homosexuals. The Nazis wanted to get rid of Homosexuality all together to restore racial order. Homosexual rights activist tried to reform the attitudes of the people who worked against homosexuality .
Although Homosexuals did not fit into their perfect race, the Nazi men did generally leave the non-German male Homosexuals alone unless the were active with German partners.
On May 6, 1933 Storm troopers and students in Wiemar ,Germany burned the institute of sexual science. This event would later inch them one step closer to eradicating an openly gay and lesbian culture from Germany.
